Hi. I have been using Power BI for a few years, but I've mostly been the data modeler. I have a long history of SSAS Tabular and am very comfortable with DAX, data modeling, and T-SQL. What I don't understand is the Power BI platform, how to visualize, or administer. I've got the basics, but want to be more advanced. For example, I'm having trouble getting the visual interactions to work the way I want or find visualizations that work as I imagine. I need to get on with the Power BI vision so I have a matching paradigm while developing. I have a new role where I'm doing a lot more Power BI and want to get better at those topics. I've been hitting youtube and it's helpful, but very sporadic about finding new info. Are there any resources to help that are more comprehensive and are kept up to date? Amazon books are probably outdated by a year. Thanks.

are you interested in the technicalities around your data visuals or are you wanting to learn more about the science of data visualisation?
this is a good visual reference from sqlbi
https://www.sqlbi.com/ref/power-bi-visuals-reference/
if you want to understand more how to do great data visuals i recommend reading the following:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Storytelling-Data-Visualization-Business-Professionals/dp/1119002257
knowing the right visuals to use, will help guide you, generally the same settings happen across the visuals, the best thing is to play with them, you can also develop your own (not highly recommended unless you have resource and time to maintain), and also using custom visualistions that are in the app store.

Thank you for your feedback. For now, I'm focused more on the technical. I may get into the storytelling at some point also. Thanks for the link to the visuals on SQLBI. That is helpful. I'm looking for more on architecture (both desktop development and server administration) I think. I don't know enough about PBI yet to properly ask the question. I've been much more of a SQL Server stack developer focusing on T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, & SSRS for the last decade. Because of my SSAS, I've pretty much been doing just that for the last two years. I'm lacking in Power BI understanding though from a deeper level. I know that some of that will come with time but I have study time available right now and I'm trying to utilize it the best way possible.

Thank you. This should get me going. That first one is a big document. I'm familiar with the author's writing though and she is very easy to read.
