Hi Community,
am I the only one missing a real story telling feature? In Qliksense for example you can set filters and copy interesting insights to a clipboard. This data then can be pasted to a kind of presentation.
For who is interested, you can see a good documentation of the functionalities here.
How come this feature is not even remotely available in PowerBI? Or am I just don't get it? How are you working around this? It would be so helpful to have an integration with Powerpoint for example.
Am curious to hear your thoughts.
Best,
P.
Hi.
For me is the same, infact in Qlik I can organized different sheets and download in ppt, but now i think that this function is not available anc i cannot duplicate 10 sheets in pbi and than download....
any advise?
Thank

I don't have a solution here for you but want to agree with your assessment. PowerBI is great for true dashboards on dynamic data (aka whats happening right now) and great at analysis of static data but falls short on trends and storytelling on dynamic data (the snapshot in time you describe).
It's possible to do it but requires some extensive work and programming to accomplish.
My suggestion is to think about your data modeling and what tables might be created (even if you have to manually load them on a set cadence) to facilitate your data presentation needs.

Hi @PhMeDie ,
Currently, We can export report to Powerpoint. But for the visuals in that they will no longer interact with each other.
Hi,
thanks for the answer.
I know that reports can be exported, but that's not quite the feature I am looking for.
Please see below how Qliksense describes their snapshot feature.
*****************
Snapshots
A snapshot is a graphical representation of the state (type and data) of a data object at a certain point in time that you can use when you build stories. The snapshot you take is a copy of the state. This means that the state of the snapshot does not change when the state of the corresponding data object gets updated.
Snapshots capture individual objects on a sheet during the analysis process. They store the visualization and data as you see it at that time enabling you to use them at a later point in time to tell a story. Each snapshot contains a bookmark back to the original context so that you quickly get access to the live data.
When you take a snapshot you can make an annotation for your snapshot. The annotation helps you distinguish between the different snapshots in the snapshot library when you build your story. The annotation is not visible when you play the story.
**************
So basically you can create the visuals and then filter them down to what you want to see and then take a snapshot. The snapsho is then stored in a clipboard and can be pasted. It would be great to be able to take snapshots that are then passed on to Powerpoint where they can be incorporated into a presentation. Or is there a workaround I am not seeing?
Best,
P
