I know how to use shapefiles to create custom shape maps visualisations in Power BI, but it it possible to use a shapefile for data prep?
If I have a list of locations (addresses, postcodes or lat, long) can I lookup which area they are within based on a shapefile? The shapefile would contain closed, non-overlapping polygons.
Many thanks,
Mark.

You can do spatial analysis if you connect to Esri ArcGIS or MapBox.
I think you need a license for both.

Otherwise you can use QGIS which is completely free.
