Hi,
In the attached screenshot, I have a Table and a Matrix visual. The data is:
| First Name | Title | Title Rank |
| Matt | CEO | 2 |
| Adam | Chairman | 1 |
| Russell | Managing Director | 3 |
[Title] is sorted by [Title Rank] under the Modeling window. In the Table it's sorting properly, but in the Matrix it's sorting alphabetically. You can see both are sorted by [Title]
Any suggestions to get the Matrix to sort as intended?
Thanks!
Hi @mrothschild ,
Based on testing in the latest version 2.75.5649.861 of Power BI Desktop, I can sort the [Title] by the [Title Rank] in Matrix visual successfully. You may update the Power BI Desktop to the latest version, and try it again.
Best Regards,
Amy

Hi @v-xicai
I've attached a PBIX file that I believe mirrors yours. I have updated my version to: Version: 2.75.5649.861 64-bit (November 2019)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rjW6KJdzB1FHjEohIDwZHAvd5ZGqYYX3/view?usp=sharing
When I sort by the column header "First Title" the order is either:
(1) CEO, (2) Chairman, (3) Managing Director, or
(3) CEO, (2) Chairman, (1) Managing Director
I cannot get it to sort by title rank, which is
(1) Chairman, (2) CEO, or (3) Managing Director even though Title is sorted by Title Rank
@mrothschild did you put the Title in rows or in value section of matrix?
