Sorting Funnel chart by a job grade

Hi there, I was using the funnel to depict a company's organisational structure and I'd like it to be sorted hierarchically. So with the boss at the top and the lowly trainee at the bottom and with all the other job grades shown in sequence.  However, the funnel sorts it numerically, so with the most populace job grade at the top and the job grade with the smallest number at the bottom.

The job grades are a mix of numbers and letters. So I created a new field that prefixed the grade with a letter. I did this hoping to be able to use the alphabet to force the sort but of course the funnel has no obvious sorting feature.

Is there a way to sort a funnel so I can depict the organisational structure the way I want?

I'd also hoped to include the gender mix for each grade. The colour saturation option doesn't seem to do this. Is there a way to split the funnel's groups into two to show gender?

Can anyone help with either or both of my two questions?

Thanks in advance

Paul

    Hi paulotv

Have you tried with the feature Sort by column?

Besides, if you want to show gender, you may could try with the custom visual Tornado chart which have the legend field.

If you need further help, please some data sample or your expected output.

Hi v-piga-msftthanks for both your suggestions. The funnel chart is excellent. I hadn't noticed the sort function before.

When I use the sort function it doesn't seem to work as intended. The job grade I want to sort in are a mixture of numeric and alphabetic grades. So the field format is text. I prefixed each grade with a letter of the alphabet. So the most senior grade starts with 'a' and the most junior grade is the last letter in the alphabet needed in this case 'p'. When I sort on the field it arranges the data k,i,m,h etc not a,b,c,d, etc

Basically, I'd like to sort alphabettically on the Group and not by the size of the Group.

Is there a way I cna fix this?

      Cheers

      Paul
