Something went wrong: An error occured while rendering the report

Hi all,

Since I started working with a new datamodel, the 'format painter' option does not seem to work properly.

Every time I try to use this feature, as it makes formatting way easier, I get an error message saying:

After getting this message, it is not possible to save my pbix file anymore. For this reason, I have to do all the formating manually which takes a lot more time. Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason this happens?

Hi all, 

I'm facing the same issue as above, format painter crashes the PowerBI desktop application.

Also, the dialog box with the error (see snip attached), keeps on popping up irrespective of clicking either of the buttons. Goes into something like an infinite loop and finally have to force end the application from Task Manager. Please share if anyone has found a solution to this. Thanks

Honestly, in my situation, I could never figure out what caused the issue, but magically it resolved itself over time. Sorry that I can't be of much help. What I did do back then was open a ticket with Microsoft Power BI support and had a meeting. But when it came time to show them the error, it pulled a classic hide-and-seek on me and didn’t show up...typical, right? haha

You can try to click File -- Options and settings --Options -- Preview features -- turn off "Power BI Desktop infrastructure update"
