Looking for a way to use power BI slicer on multiple columns. there are thousand rows and 150 columns in a spreadsheet and workaround of 'undo pivot' jumbles up all the data. Please see dummy data picture. There is much more complicated real data in actual spreadsheet. There are columns for Ideas, Project, Portfolio, Initiatives, Category (Idea, Project or Portfolio), Leaders, Project Manager, Milestones, and at the very end there are tags on what kind of ideas are captured (there can be more than one tag for each idea type - for example it can be an opportunity, Niche Market, Technology and Cost Savings). I want to create slicer for idea type/tags which are currently listed as multiple columns. Power BI Slicer allows only one column fields.
Hi @Jhankudi
In your scenario, to achieve your requirement. You can refer to following steps:
1. Unpivot your source table columns. To make them as fields in Slicer.
Go to Edit Queries -> Choose your source table and select columns of tags-> Go to Transform option, find Unpivot Columns and choose Unpivot selected columns:
2.Close & Apply. Then you can simply create Slicers:

Hi Maggie,
Thank you so much for your response. This helped me create slicer but now the count of my Initiatives and Projects is totally off because this created duplicate rows in the data table.
Any idea how to solve that issue? Somehow unpivoting columns deleted/removed the projects & initiatives which had no tags aligned to them.
Thank you for your help.
