Slicer Dropdown

Hello, does anyone if there is any setting to make sure that the dropdown actually opens with the list down rather than up?

@Emma_ - The best you can do is use a vertical list, rather than dropdown. However this will only load one layer of your hierarchy.

Alternatively you could heavily format an expanded Matrix visual, to make it look like a slicer, but you would lose the dropdown and search options. It may also be more difficult for a user to make selections, and less intuitive, but it's another option!

thanks a lot for your answer. I noticed that when I moved the slicer to the top of my page it worked as expected with the list showing down. Totally weird behaviour but it is ok for now.

Hey @Emma_ ,

In Power BI, the dropdown behavior (whether it opens up or down) is determined by the available space around the slicer and the general layout of the report. Unfortunately, there is no direct setting to force the dropdown to open in a specific direction. Few suggestions you could try:

1. Adjust the report layout: Make sure there is enough space below the slicer to allow it to open downwards. If there is limited space above the slicer, Power BI might open it upwards.

2. Resize the slicer: Try resizing the slicer to ensure that it opens downward. Sometimes, when the slicer is too close to the top of the report, it will open upwards to avoid overlapping with other objects.

3. Move the slicer: If possible, move the slicer slightly downward in the report to provide more space below it.

4. Using a custom visual: You could also look for a custom slicer visual in the Power BI marketplace that might offer more flexibility in dropdown behavior.
