Slicer Control
Hi I have a data table that has transactions for a product sold telling the amount of net value, net qty & net weight which corresponds practically to Sales revenue, packets sold & KG product sold. I want to create a slicer that would adjust all the visuals to which ever unit i select ($$, EA or KG). Can someone advise if that is possible?
This might take some time as you would have to adjust each of the measures that feed into your visualizations.
I would start with creating a parameter table and assigning an arbitrary numeric value to each display type you'd like. For example:
Display | Value
$$ 1
EA 2
KG 3
Then create a measure that returns the value, such as the following:
DisplayValue := Max(ParameterTable[Value). Then place the "Display" column as a slicer, allowing users to select any of the displays. Their input will return a value that you can then use to adjust measures.
Say you want to show the sum of each of those. You can write a measure such as this.
Switch(
[DisplayValue],
1, sum(Sales[Net Value],
2, sum(Sales[Net Qty],
3, sum(Sales[NetWeight[Kg])
)
Obviously you would have to tailor this to each of your existing measures, but the general idea stands. Good luck!
