Single Value slicer from WHATIF Parameter not allowing precise number entry

I'm trying to create a Single Value slicer from a WHATIF parameter that allows user to input a number from -100 to 100 to the first decimal place, for example: -5.0

Here's my process:

  1. Open new blank PBIX file
  2. Select "New Parameter - What if" from /Modeling on menu bar
  3. Change Data Type to "Fixed Decimal Number"
  4. Set Minimum to -100 and Maximum to 100
  5. Set Increment to 0.1
  6. Ensure "Add slicer to this page" remains checked, and then click "Ok"

This is the immediate visual that is created:

The format of "Parameter" is Currency with "Auto" decimal places.  I change that to "Decimal" with 4 decimal places (should be one, but for troubleshooting, I'm using 4).  I repeat this for [Parameter Value].

When I enter "0" into the Parameter slicer, it immediately changes the slicer input to "-0.1000" rather than the exact zero that I want.

The only way I've found to fix this is to change the Parameter range to -100.1 to 99.9 but this seems like not the correct approach and doesn't work for all inputs.  For example, it works for -5 and 0, but not for -7.5, which bounces to -7.6 on input.

Any suggestions?

THanks!

Hi @mrothschild

This is by design, coz the range is too big and the numbers are being sampled. So not all value can be typed as single value.  It's a limitation of what if parameter, please review the following ideas and comment on them.
"what if" parameter - turn off sampling so all numbers are generated in a range

This same issue came up earlier today but it's been around a while.

Please vote for this idea so Microsoft is more likely to resolve it:
