Has anyone found a decent solution to refreshing a direct query report in intervals ? I have been using a 3rd party add-in to refresh the page but would like something to simulate the refresh button press. Then the page (F5) does not refresh but only the report. I dont understand why it is so difficult to find a solution to this.
We have a report using direct query to a SQL server displaying on wallboard. The Super Auto refresh add-in works but that refreshes the whole page and then there are a few seconds whre the report is blank due to "Data Refresh" message. If you can just simulate the "Refresh" button, the user experience would be much smoother.
Any other solutions out there ?

Oct-2019 release has the feature. Is it not working:https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-october-2019-feature-summary/
Refer :Automatic page refresh for DirectQuery (preview)
The automatic refresh option is not available for publish-to-web version right?
Any hints how to update DirectQuery Connections in a publish-to-web version (automatic or with a refresh button)?
Hi @amitchandak ,
thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunalty not. As mentioned it is for the Report Server version https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55330 and not the Pwoer BI Desktop for the PBI service. that feature is not available yet in the report server (on-prem) version. hence my request.
Thanks again
