SharePoint file location changed for Excel workbook causing errors

Our company reorganized our SharePoint sites.  I have an Excel workbook that was located in one site but now we must move to another URL.  I tried to simply change the location in Transform data > Data source settings AND Transform data > Transform data >Applied Steps > Source > select gear > SharePoint folder > enter Site URL.  It's a simple folder name change.

https://company.sharepoint.com/teams/OldTeam TO https://company.sharepoint.com/teams/NewTeam

The file's format is identical every month.

However because of the new location, it wants me to select the file as if a new data source.  Is there a simple way of moving a SharePoint file's location in my dashboard without recreating it and displaying errors ?

I use Power BI Desktop and then publish to our workspace.

Version: 2.100.1182.0 64-bit (December 2021)

RESOLVED.  Made URL change in Adv Editor...deleted Applied Steps that either had errors or were irrelevant...changed old URL to new URL in Sample File queries...deleted old data source...ran refresh...saved and published.

If you into the Advanced Editor in Power Query can you just change the URL string there?

I made the change in Adv Editor...when it queries, it lists ALL of the files under that SharePoint site like I was adding a new source...I select the file...but then all my applied steps are out of order. Changing the path makes PBI Desktop act like I'm adding a new data source...not redirecting.

  • Once you change the path in the advanced editor, if everything else is the same it should just flow to the last step.

    1. Change the path
    2. Click Done
    3. Click on your last step

Is there a new folder layer that you are not including in the path maybe or does the folder contain more files than it did before?
