When importing data from a Folder and transforming PowerBi no longer sets up the Helper Queries it just only imports the file but does not transform it. 

This is what it used to do:

and apply the following steps to the file:

But now it just imports the file from the source without doing anything to it.

How can I get it to create the helper queries and actually transform the files and add the needed steps?

This is important especially for students attending DIAD - has there been any further commentary on this?

    working on an improved experience to address this.

     

    For now, we definitely encourage folks to follow the instructions from the DIAD which uses the legacy UI. We typically refrain from using or leveraging preview features in any of the xIAD labs and this new Power Query UI in Power BI Desktop falls in that category of preview features. Nevertheless, once things are ready in the new UI, the screenshots and instructions of the DIAD will reflect the new UI.
