Sensitivity Label Button Disabled in Power BI Desktop

Hello,

Our organization has enabled sensitivity labels for all users in the Power BI admin portal, and we also utilize this feature in other Office tools without any problems.

However, we have encountered a specific issue where some users are unable to access the sensitivity label button in Power BI Desktop. This problem does not occur in other applications such as Excel, Word, or Power BI Service and is specific to Power BI Desktop alone.

Is there another portal where I have to allow specific users to use this feature in Power BI Desktop?

Thanks

In Power BI Desktop, the ability to use sensitivity labels is controlled by a separate setting called "Sensitivity labels for Power BI Desktop" in the Microsoft 365 compliance center. To allow specific users to access the sensitivity label button in Power BI Desktop, you need to enable this setting for their accounts. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Microsoft 365 compliance center (https://compliance.microsoft.com/) and sign in with your administrator account.
  2. Navigate to the "Sensitivity labels" section.
  3. Click on "Sensitivity labels for Power BI Desktop" in the left-hand menu.
  4. You will see a list of users and their current access status for sensitivity labels in Power BI Desktop.
  5. To enable access for specific users, click on "Edit" next to their names.
  6. In the pop-up window, change the access status to "Allowed."
  7. Click "Save" to apply the changes.
  8. Repeat the process for any other users who need access to sensitivity labels in Power BI Desktop.
