Hello,
In report I have a table, a drop down list and a line chart.
My data looks like this:
| Category | Date | Value | ||
| A | 2022-10-28 | 8 | ||
| A | 2022-10-27 | 4 | ||
| A | 2022-10-26 | 5 | ||
| B | 2022-10-28 | 7 | ||
| B | 2022-10-27 | 13 | ||
| B | 2022-10-26 | 8 | ||
| D | 2022-10-28 | 9 | ||
| D | 2022-10-27 | 11 | ||
| D | 2022-10-26 | 17 | ||
| E | 2022-10-28 | 10 |
Some categories are shown in table, for example A, B and C. But D and E categories I only want to see in drop down list menu.
However, in line chart I would like to see union of all categories selected.
For example, if I select D from drop down list and select A from table, is it possible in line chart show A and D ?
Now, if I select something from drop down list and then select from table, the chart is blank.
It is usually best practice just to have one filter. Otherwise you are gonna get a lot of people who are confused that they cannot see everything because they have selected something in one of the filters but not the others.
I am not sure this is the answer you are looking for, but the best option would proberly be to just choose on of the filters and stick with it.
These categories of real data are very different and showing them in one filter would be more confusing. So that is why we prefer to have two different filters.
In your example you showed that both A and D are from the same colum from your dataset.
Is this the case in your report or was the dataset just an example?
Yes, they are from the same column in our real databaset too. However, the meaning of these categories are very different and that is why we want to separate them in filters but leave a possibility to compare all categories in line chart.
Ok.
You can try to create a new measure and with the All() funcktion.
Use this new measure in the table, that way you can selected the diffrent filters without changeing the table.
If you still want the table to be effected by some of the filters you can use the or ALLEXCEPT() function.
Could you explain what kind of data should I put in ALL() function? And this measure should be used only in the table?
