Hi,
How does security work in PowerBI. I have to restrict users data based on Region for the dashbaord.
Does it work only with PRO version, what about the free version. Please help.
Solved! Go to Solution.
@pbidummy Security in Power BI specifically know as RLS (Row Level Security) can be achieved in Power BI using either SSAS or RLS feature in Power BI Desktop. Both are a part of pro features and hence PRO version requuired for the same.
Hi @pbidummy,
Adding to other post, you can consider to try Power BI pro 60 day trial, you will have access to all of the Pro features including RLS for the duration of the trial.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
Thanks Lydia, I have already started to use the PRO trail version.
I have a question related to the DAX expression for secuirty, should we use only e-mail Id or can we use NT name, if so how
do we use NT name ??

Share a filtered version of a report - Maybe a report that only shows data for a specific city or salesperson or year. This can be done by creating a custom URL.
Your browser adds some special characters to represent slashes and spaces, so you end up with:
app.powerbi.com/groups/me/reports/010ae9ad-a9ab-4904-a7a1-10a61f70f2f5/ReportSection2?filter=Store%252FTerritory%20eq%20NC
Any other way or can we mash the URL, because if we remove the addtional characters, user will have access to everything.
You can use parameters to alter the URL.
Thanks Bhavesh, how do I use parameters to alter the URL ?
