Scatterplot won't sort chronologically

Hi there,

I'm developing a dashboard where the scatterplot is the most important function of the dashboard. I have multiple tables and for the scatterplot I am using measures from three different tables:

  1. Scores of Employees --> 1 till 10
  2. Period --> P1F1, P1F2, P1F3, P1F4, P2F1, P2F2, P2F3, P2F4, P3F1, P3F2, P3F3, P3F4, P4F1, P4F2, P4F3, P4F4
    1. P = Period (1 - 4) and F = Fase (1 - 4)
  3. Year = 1 till 4

Above you can see the X-axis (I removed the P and F, so 1-1 = P1F2

The third number is the Year

As you can see now, everything is sorted perfectly, but once I add the names of the employees in the Legend it looks as follows:

It start with 1-1 3 instead of 1-1 1

Due to this the whole function of the scatterplot fails and thus the whole dashboard... I tried everything to sort it out correctly, but I keep failing. Does someone have some suggestions?

I found the solution, or at least a solution that worked for me:

When you format the scatterplot, go to Y-Axis and let it start at 0.1 or 1.

Go to show blank values and select: ON.

Thanks to this trick it sorted everything fine. This might also help someone out which the same problem. Hope it works for you too!

I did some tests and it seems that the order is influenced by the names in the legend. Since the first person from my list was only active in year 3, problem is that I need to see all the dots, thus need to divide the data into the employees...

According to this article, scatter plots cannot be sorted manually:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-change-sort

Not all visuals can be sorted. For example, the following visuals cannot be sorted: treemap, map, filled map, scatter, gauge, card, waterfall.

Check that everything is set to 'don't summarize' and perhaps may have to create a numerical value for the period rather than one with the - in it.

This video around 5:10 shows scatter plot with legend behaving as expected:
