Hi,
Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum.
Can anyone recommend a good Sankey Chart visual that I can export from PowerBI Service without having to pay $600-$700!
I am the sole person to use Desktop in my organisation and the Sankey Chart will only ever be used a handful of times throughout the year.
I found one chart from PowerViz that had a $0.99 per month price plan, so, I signed up for the free trial, however, when I tried to export the visual i got the following message:
I contacted PowerViz and they said I need a license to export their visuals and one would cost $700 per year. This is a crazy amount of money for something I may only ever use a couple of times.
So, that is my predicament, I would be happy to pay for something a lot cheaper or ideally free, any suggestions would be most welcome!

Hi @ArchStanton ,

The behavior you’re seeing is related to how Power BI handles custom visuals. According to Microsoft documentation, the functionality and supportability of a custom visual depend on the visual implementation, its certification status, and the support provided by the visual publisher.
Microsoft also mentions that AppSource custom visuals can offer both free and paid features, with feature availability controlled by the visual publisher. In addition, the behavior of organizational and other third-party visuals can vary based on the capabilities supported by that visual.
As a supported option, you may consider using a Microsoft-certified custom visual from AppSource, or alternatively use native Power BI visuals if you need broader compatibility across Power BI features.

I kindly suggest working around with the sanky chart custom visual that you can install from Microsoft AppSource:

Please take a look at the SQLBI video where they prepare the data to get a functional sankey chart:

No, I am not experienced with licensing arrangementes
Hello,
You could try the free Microsoft Sankey visual from AppSource, I think export works normally there, even if the formatting is more basic. Another option is generating the Sankey outside Power BI with Python, then importing it as an image for the few times you need it.
Best regards,
Daniele
Thanks for the advice, I've tried the Microsoft version and its dreadful, it has very limited formatting options and doesn't really work with my complicated dataset.
Unfortunately, I've no experience with Python.
Do you know if all price planned Visuals will have the licensing arrangements as PowerViz?
