SSAS vs. ADW

hi

im converting my database from SSAS cube to azure database warehouse

my problem in ssas was the limitations on live connection

the first thing i wanted is the publish to web which enable on ADW

i tried to see how it works in directquery on Azure: i see i can manage relationship and stuff, change data types, but still can add new column/measure. the difference is that the add column is enable, why is that? whice column/measure can i add?

what more can I do in ADW DirectQuery which i can't on cube live connection?

thanks!

MP_123 Add column is in the Desktop, because you don't have a model, and they are allowing you to create calculated columns. You can add any column or measure you want...

And to answer what "more" you can do, I don't really understand... You'll have the ability to add the additional calc columns and measures to the Desktop, and change relationships. "The model" part that you are now missing by using Direct Query to a database. I don't know if I've answered your questions, as the description is a bit confusing to me. You are going through all of this in order to use "Publish to Web"?

      Hi ,

Can we replace a SSAS cube by a ADW solution ?

My current system is a OLTP  where the cube is a big blocker  ( it take a lot of time and effort .

Can we replace that with an ADW to show real time Data ?

      HI

My current system is based on SSAS.

I would like to move the latest cutting edge tech in ADW.

SSAS - Time consuming and unstable.

Does ADW provide - real Time Data for Sales Analytics ?
