Hi,
I have an enviroment where we import from sql into powerbi. We would then like to pop this into teams if we set up the auto refresh in teams will this still work and pull data from sql when required?
Secondly is there any other way apart from a direct query to get power bi to update as i need to use a date hierarchy and im aware that this does not work with direct queries currently.
Any idea>
Tia,
Sam

Hi @samjones9 ,
Regarding your first question, if you set up auto refresh in Teams for your Power BI report, it will still work and pull data from SQL when required. The data will be refreshed based on the schedule you set up in Power BI Service. You can also manually refresh the data in Teams by clicking the “Refresh” button in the report.
As for your second question, there are a few ways to update Power BI without using DirectQuery. One option is to use Import mode instead of DirectQuery mode. In Import mode, the data is imported into Power BI and stored in the Power BI cache. You can then use the date hierarchy and other features in Power BI without any issues. However, keep in mind that the data will not be real-time and you will need to refresh it manually or on a schedule.
Another option is to use a hybrid approach where you use DirectQuery for some tables and Import mode for others. This can help you take advantage of the benefits of both modes.
