SOLVED: How to Switch Tenants in Power BI Desktop with the Same Username

I had the same username for two Power BI tenants and was stuck in a login loop in Power BI Desktop. I need to publish same dashoboard in two different places but it woudln't let me connect to the second tenant.

I tried signing out and back in, and clearing my cache, but was never prompted to choose a tenant.

The Solution:

  1. In Power BI Desktop, click Sign Out.
  2. Re-open and click Sign In.
  3. Crucially, select "Use another account" (even though you're using the same email).
  4. Click on "Sign-in options"
  5.  Then select "Sing in to an organization"
  6. Enter the new domain name

Hi @BIDataGal,

Thanks for sharing your experience here in the Microsoft Fabric Community.

This is a common issue when the same email ID is linked to two different Power BI tenants ,Power BI Desktop often doesn’t give an option to choose the tenant and automatically signs you into the one you used last. Because of this, users face a login loop and are unable to connect to the second tenant. The solution you shared is very useful. After signing out, when you sign in again, selecting “Use another account” even if the email is the same, then going to “Sign-in options” and choosing “Sign in to an organization”, allows you to enter the specific tenant domain and connect properly. Appreciate you for sharing it will definitely help others facing the same problem.

your work around is correct , if it is working fine please consider marking your own reply as the accepted solution. This will help other community members easily find the right answer when they face a similar issue.
Regards,
Harshitha.
