Row level security

Hello,

I already know how to create row level security.

I want this feature now to automatically hide any values/data that is not inclueded in the IT group that I am apart of.

As I have to manually have to select IT in the security.

So essentially I do not want to keep doing this, as I want an automatic version where becuase I am part of the IT group, it automically just shows that data.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous ,

Currently, the action you are doing is to test the results of the roles within Power BI Desktop. Since you are the creator of pbix with RLS , you can choose which roles to be test. If you would like the specific users to view the specific data report, you may publish the pbix to Power BI Service, add a member to the role by typing in the email address, or name, of the user, security group or distribution list you want to add under the Security page.  Then this RLS will be applied for different users with viewer permission instead of Admin, Contributor or Member.

hi @Anonymous, as mentioned by @v-xicai  - since you are the owner of the report RLS will not apply when you log into the report in PBI service - RLS only applies to users who have viewer access on report. Users with member, contributor or admin access will not see any effect of RLS.

Easier approach may be to create a seperate report for IT view with non-IT related data filtered at report level. Hope this helps!

Hello,

What I am trying to achieve is that if I am part of the IT group, then all the data that is not required and not part of IT will be hidden.

Currently as you can see I have achieved that, but I have to do it manually.

I want it to be done automically
