Hello everyone,
I am looking to use a datasource (xlsx) that has "rolling data" in it. The report is sent out daily and it includes the last two full months plus any days in the current month. So, for example, for today (Oct 25), I have all of the data from August and September, and MTD for October. When we get to November, the daily report will have all of the data from September and October, plus MTD in November. Each daily report is now being saved as an individual file.
I would like to combine the data from these daily reports into a single table to be used in PBI without losing the data from the previous months once they are no longer included in the daily report.
I could append reports using PQ in PBI, but the only way I know how to do that is to manually save a copy of each month's data and then append MTD values with the "this month" filters in PQ. I do not like this approach because of the frequency of manually saving the data.
Is there anyway I can automate this process without risk of losing the "older" data?
Cheers!
@RMW13 How is the data sent out? If it is sent out as a file, using a Folder query may be a good option. Dump all of the files in a folder and use a Folder query to combine them all into a single table.
Appreciate the quick response!
I am currently saving them to a folder and using that as the source. I can filter so that it is only looking at the latest report, however, I am concerned that I will lose the month that "falls off" the report. For example, on Nov 2, the daily report will no longer include the data for August, unless I manually save the August data to it, which is what I am trying to avoid.
Please let me know if that makes sense or if this assumption is wrong.
Cheers!
