Reuse parameter from Semantic layer into PowerBI Report Builder

Hello,

I have some parameters seted up on my semantic layer and i'm currently working on Power BI Report Builder. Those parameters are filtering my query (in direct query).

I would like to let the user choose the parameter on report builder and then it would update the query and then reduce the results of the query.

Is that posible ?

The objective is to migrate from SSRS to PowerBI, but the shared datasets are not longer availables... Do you have any suggestion to replace it ? I thought about semantic layer, i'm not sure it is a good answer but i need to put those parameters to limit the result and it had to be a shared dataset...

Cordially.

    Hi Anonymous ,

Sorry, so far, to my knowledge, this may not be achieveable.

Thanks for your efforts & time in advance.

    Hi Anonymous ,

Yes, it is possible to let users choose parameters in Power BI Report Builder, which will then update the query and reduce the results accordingly.

    1. Set Up Parameters in Power BI Report Builder

2.In your dataset query, use the parameters to filter the data. For example, if you have a parameter named @Category, you can use it in your SQL query like this:
SELECT * FROM Products WHERE Category = @Category

    Hi Anonymous ,
I have already tried that, but it is not working with my published power bi semantic model which is using the parameters in the M Query but not in the select of the query. I would like to link the parameters from this semantic model and the parameters from the report builder.

    Is it possible ?
