Reload PBIP on change
It would be nice if PowerBI desktop will detect external changes to files for report stored as PBIP and will offer a reload.
It can help with cases then report soruce code was updated from Git, it should handle realod gracefully and merge changes, like Visual Studio does.
Hi samfromlv
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
Currently, Power BI Desktop does not support live reload or auto-merge of PBIP file changes from external sources while the PBIP project is open. This limitation can lead to:
- Conflicts between what Power BI Desktop has in memory versus what is on disk
- Risk of unintentionally overwriting others’ changes.
For future improvements, we suggest submitting this as a feature request in the Power BI Ideas Forum to bring it to Microsoft's attention.Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community
You can submit the following suggestion:
Support for auto-reload or change detection of PBIP file components when updated externally, similar to Visual Studio’s behavior.
If my response has resolved your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Additionally, a 'Kudos' would be appreciated if you found my response helpful.
Thank You
