Relationship Error when trying to use RELATED in a new column or measure.

The column 'Barge[Barge ID]' either doesn't exist or doesn't have a relationship to any table available in the current context.

I am using multiple semantic models to create my report. Some of the models contain the same Dim tables, I decide to not import the ones that are duplicate. I created the necessary relationships but when trying to use the RELATED dax functgion I am getting the error.

I have gone through and made sure my relationships are correct.

I thought as an experiment I would import the 'Barge' Table that was in the 'Barge Expense' Semantic Model and that worked a with RELATED funtion. I shouldnt have to do that and I do not want to have multiple Dim tables because it will affect some of the visuals and my cross report drill throughs.

Thanks in advance for taking a look into this issue.

Hello!

Were you able to get a solution?, I'm with the same problem.

No, just a work around. I had to create a new semantic model from the dataflows that I needed.

Hope this helps!

@djurecicK2 Thanks for the reply but LOOKUPVALUE is too specific for what I need.

I think I am really trying to understand is if I am using a DIM table from one Semantic model and is also used in another semantic model, why do I need to bring in the table twice for it to work. Why cant I use the table that I already brought into the table.

Furthermore, why in the modeling tab and pop out it lets me create a relationship but when I try to use the relationship for measures or columns it tells me it is missing.

Hi @nick_ACBL ,

Without getting into your model too much, you can use the DAX function LOOKUPVALUE to return results from another table without having a relationship. This might work for you in this case.
