[Regression] Some options in Power BI Desktop are displayed in the wrong language

Hi there.

There seems to be some regression since – I believe – the version 2.144 of Power BI Desktop causing some settings in the Options window getting displayed in your Windows system language rather than the one you have set in the app [application language]. Those are all the settings under the Preview features tab and one under DirectQuery (I'm not sure if that's all, or I did miss some). Here are two screenshots showing this (my OS language is Polish, but I use the app in English):

These screenshots are from the 2.144.878.0 version.

Please let me know if I should provide some more troubleshooting information, like OS version etc.

Also sorry if I selected a wrong label, I couldn't find the one best describing my bug report (is this even the right place to report bugs?).

Hi @przemo20 ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you @speedramps for the prompt response.

As the Troubleshooting steps didn't helped to solve the issue, I recommend submitting your detailed feedback through Microsoft's Support Ticket channels, such as the How to create a Fabric and Power BI Support ticket - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Thank you.

I already have. Still no dice.

What I have also tried:

  • I already switched “Application Language” from “Use Windows default display language” to “English (United States)” – not sure why, but even though I had, for some reason, set it to “Use Windows default display language” (which is Polish in my case), the app was still in English
  • Switching “Use application language” under / Forcing Model language to “English (United States)” and restarting the app
  • Switching also the “Locale for import” to “English (United States)” (but after restarting the app, it switches right back to my Windows regional settings, which is “Polish (Poland)”. If I change regional settings to let's say, Chinese, Data Load > Regional settings says also Chinese)

The options I mentioned are still in Polish, no matter the app settings, or my regional settings. As I said, this happened after updating to the “previous newest version” (not the current newest one), which was also 2.144.XXX.X.

UPDATE: I also was able to reproduce this issue on a relatively clean Windows 11 24H2 virtual machine where the OS language is also Polish.
