What is the difference between Pro, Fabric and Premium license
Solved! Go to Solution.
In the context of Microsoft Power BI (now largely integrated with Microsoft Fabric), a "Pro" license allows basic content creation and sharing with other users, while "Fabric" refers to the overall platform encompassing various data services including Power BI, and "Premium" unlocks advanced features like large-scale data processing and is typically purchased as a capacity-based license, meaning you pay for the computing power needed rather than per user, with "Premium Per User" (PPU) offering some Premium features on an individual user basis; essentially, Pro is for basic user functionality, Fabric is the platform itself, and Premium provides additional power for heavy data workloads.
Pro License: A standard user license allowing you to create, edit, and share Power BI content with other users, suitable for most business users.
Fabric: Not a license type, but the overall platform encompassing Power BI and other data services like data lakes and warehouses, where you would use your existing Power BI Pro or Premium license to access features
Premium License: A capacity-based license offering advanced features like large datasets, advanced analytics, and more powerful data processing capabilities, often used for large-scale deployments where many users need to access heavy data analysis.

Pro is ideal for individual users or small teams needing basic sharing and collaboration.
Premium is for large-scale operations with higher capacity, advanced AI, and performance needs.
