Refreshment problem

As long as I modify the cell contents in my excel file (dataset) or even adding a new column, I can refresh on Power Bi, hassle free. BUT, when I try to change an existing column name in excel file, I cannot refresh on Power Bi anymore. Anyone found a solution for this?

I also tried to change the columns accordingly in power bi tables and queries BUT still did not work 😞

if you change the Excel column names then you also have to adjust the M script that transforms that data in PowerBI

in order to do that you need to
1) press the [Edit Queries] button in the Home ribbon in PowerBI

2) select the relevant table from the list on the left

3) in the query settings menu (right part of the screen, can be enabled in View ribbon in the Power Query Editor) you need to identify the first step that causes error - I'd assume it would be #"Changed Type" that fails if you change a column number

4) with the problematic step identified you can either remove it and redo it from scratch or manually change the formula to match your new setup

5) repeat 3-4 until the final step in the query is returning expected result

Hello @Alirezam ,

Can you please share your excel sheet and .pbix file here?

Also, mention the column for name change.

Thanks,

Bhavankit
