Refreshing data from SQL

Hi, I have a ferw questions about refreshing data:

If I create a data model in Power Pivot for Excel and import the file into Power BI Desktop is it possible to refresh the data in Power BI Desktop ?

My second question is similiar to the one above, except if I upload the pbix file into My Workspace, is it possible to refresh the data in My Workspace.

If I create a data model and share the model with another user (and we both have pro licences) can the person that I have shared the model with refresh the data.

Which is the best place to create a data model (I have a pro liocence) for piurposes of refreshing data. The data sources are from SQL and are Accounting Databases.

Hi

1.

It is possible to refresh the data from Power Pivot for Excel in Power BI Desktop, you can upload the file or click on the “Refresh” button on Home Bar.

2.

In this case, you publish a report in Power BI Desktop to Service (My Workplace), you want to refresh the report in Service, right?

If it is, you need manager a on-premise gateway, then configure refresh.See more details here.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-scheduled-refresh

3.

Based on steps above, make sure you add users to Users list, thus if you refresh the datasets, the shared users can also see the lasted data by clicking on the “Refresh” button

4.

In this scenario, you can connect to data with Power BI Desktop and publish to Service.

You can choose import connection or DirectQuery connection, as for refresh, after publish to Service, they all need configure a gateway, what’s difference is that If your dataset is configured for DirectQuery connection, datasets are refreshed approximately each hour or when interaction with the data occurs.
