Refresh time

Hi Folks,

I am currently importing circa 1million rows of data via an SQL server in to my reports and it can take up to 6 minutes to update every report (7 in total) . Is it normal to take this amount of time does anyone have similar data loads to compare ??

Thanks

Richard

Hi @Richard76

The below will help you to get better performance on load, "Remove useless columns" and "Split date and time" probably most relevant here.

https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/data-import-best-practices-in-power-bi/

If you want to understand what happens when you load the data, please read the below.

https://www.microsoftpressstore.com/articles/article.aspx?p=2449192&seqNum=3

A lot of other factors has importance too, like.

  • Does it happen in PBI Service or Desktop
  • Where is the data source located vs where is the service located
