Hi,
We have a Power Bi report that was built on a SQL table. Now, we want to create another table but with the same structure as the first one but with the historical data. So I want to change the data source of my Power BI report to my second table and all the visuals in the report should be in place with the new table too. How do I do that without creating the report from the scratch?

Hi @bml123 ,
Open Power Query and then select the table from left, where you need to update the DB details and then you would see something like below in the Applied Steps section in right side-
Then at your 'applied steps' double click 'Source' to browse and here you can update the new databse details.
The data will be updated later, the table name will not change, and all visual objects in the table will change as the data changes.
Best Regards,
Liu Yang

If you go into transform data, find the table in question and click the cog next to the source step in power query (on the right). You should be able to update the source sql
table.
