Refresh Data Visual Comparison With Historic Data

Hi there,

I would like to have my Power BI that can both display the current refreshed data in my visuals (this is already operational) and then also have either a bookmark or something which would access the historic data (manually saved as a different source) and show the same visual.

It would be great to know what is the best way to do this. My idea so far is to manually save the data source before a refresh as a 'Historic' snapshot and connect it to the existing Power BI and basically re-do all the visuals I have. This can then allow the user can navigate between the visuals to compare.

The visuals are quite complex so I don't think this can be integrated on the same visual without it looking confusing.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi @TotunG ,

As far as I know, Power BI is a "read only" system so it doesn't have the ability to store history data beyond a refresh. I think you need to keep the history data you need in your data source. Then after refreshing, they will be both in your underlying data. Then you can compare the latest data with your history data in your report.

Here is a solved case with similar requirement like yours, I hope it could help you solve your issue.
