Rebind Thin Report to Model (dataset)

Hi all!

I split a report that had the dataset and the visuals in one place. its split into the model (dataset connections ) and thin report that contains the visuals (uses live connection). 

We've been doing many updates on the visuals or separately on the dataset so the initial report is outdated.

Is there a easy way to rebind the pbix files (model and report ) keeping everything from both? 

to mentioned what I tried: 

deleting the live connections ( to PBI service) and adding back connections to our warehouse. 

copying measures back etc. ( by the way importing a model.bim with tabular editor doesnt work : it doesnt save )

All the above take a lot of time to be made proper.
