We have built a PBI model that deals with huge data , hence the model is a mix of Import and Direct Query mode tables. We have also implemented Row Level Security (RLS) in of the model but we are facing an issue with it and hoping to get some advise from the community on the issue.
Error Message – “The user belongs to multiple roles 'Role 1 and Role 2' that have security filters, which isn't supported when one of the roles has filters affecting table 'Fact1' with SecurityFilteringBehavior=Both relationships.”
The error message complains about the 'Fact1' table having bi directional relationship, but actually in the model, we don’t have any bi directional relationship around this table
Description of the model -
In the model, most of the data is coming from Azure Data Explorer (DE) source. Only 2 huge Fact tables have data imported from Azure SQL DB source. The table (Fact 1) that shows up in error message is a Fact table (Import mode - Azure SQL DB source).
We have implemented RLS in this model which works fine, but it fails to load the visual with above error only when the report is accessed by a user who has been assigned to more than one RLS role.
The RLS is based only on a dimension table (Direct Query mode - Data Explorer source)
We can reproduce the issue only on PBI Service when we test with an actual user name but cannot reprodue it on the PBI Desktop.
