Query Tracing

Hello Everyone,

I am using Power BI with SQL Server 2016.

I want to Trace Queries that is excuted by Power BI in Direct Query.

I can trace query in SSMS. But is there a way to do same in Power BI ?

How can I tune my Queries in Power BI ?

Thanks.

Hi,

What your “Trace” mean?

If you want to trace log created by powerbi, you can see smoupre’s answer above.

If you want to debug/check execution plan of a query etc. in powerbi just as what you can do in ssms, I have to say it is not supported currently. You can provide a feature request in https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi.

Best Regards
Alex

Not sure if this will get you what you need but the only tracing option that I know of in Power BI would be to use File | Options and settings | Options | Diagnostics and turn on tracing. Not really the intended purpose of the tool, but maybe worth a shot to see what it generates.
