Pulling Data into Power BI using REST API Connection

Hello,

I've established an API connection and pulled the required data into Power BI to build a report. My stakeholder has raised a concern about how Power BI handles the authentication token used to access the data. Basically, they have some security concerns. I am new to Power BI and I am trying to understand how PBI handles this and wanted to know if there is a way for me to securely pull the data into PBI using a REST API. Is Power BI Gateway a solution? If so, how does the PBI Gateway handles this?

I also need to place this report on a refresh schedule.
