I have a number of Power BI users. Their cache sizes grow to unmanageable sizes. Company policy prevents me from (1) limiting the size of their cache folders or (2) convincing/forcing them to periodically clear their cache from within Power BI.
Is there any reason why I cannot safely remove files from the cache folder(s) that are older than X days (i.e. 2 days) using a powershell script?
c:\Users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Power Bi Desktop\LuciaCache
c:\Users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Power Bi Desktop\cache
If you do that while they are using Power BI Desktop you may get an error that the file is in use or they may experience crashes in Power BI Desktop.
I'd say go for it and see what happens.
