Resolver IProblems updating table with added variables in Power Bi
I updated my sql query and essentially added a new variable. I reconfirmed in sql that the new variable is there and updated the table in sql.
When I update my Power BI dashboard, why is the new variable not showing up?
Even when I go to transform data and use 'choose columns' I cannot find it .
Would I have to replace my table? what happens to all my calculations then? Would they all automatically jump over to the new query?

yes, the first step was to make sure that the newy implemented variable is showing up in the sql query and the sql dataset is updated.
So what I did in the meantime and what fixed it:
It seems, one cannot just simply update the model and expect the data is updated as well. I noted I needed to open the table in transform data and update it there. Then, I needed to choose the column in 'choose columns'.This finally incorporated the new variable. All done.

what should variable be? A new column?
Start a new SQL data source and select that view or table. Does it exist there? Maybe you chose as one of the steps to only keep certain column. Like this the new column would be ignored.
