Problems signing in to an account on desktop

Hi

I am no longer able to sign in to one of my accounts in PBi desktop - it just keeps asking me to choose the account, which I do - it thinks about it for a while, then asks me to choose the account again. I never get to the "enter password" stage.

 

I've logged out of everything I can think of, restarted a few times, changed my password etc.

 

I am also unable to make it forget any of the accounts.

 

I have no trouble logging in to that account on anything else, eg OneDrive, or on PBi service - just on PBi desktop.

 

One of the other accounts (one that I can get into) says "Connected to Windows". No sure what that means, or if it is affecting things?

Has anyone else experienced anything like that?

Solution that worked for us until known issue is fixed:

Click on "Can't access your account?" and then "Cancel" without entering any information.  Enter your email and password to log in.

Our Admins and helpdesk team have tried whatever they could think of on their end, but nothing seems to work. It may be a bug, since now at least three organizations are reporting it with multiple team members. I've put in a ticket with Microsoft and will post any new findings here.

Hi @hselfe,

What version of power bi desktop are you using? Please share some more detail to help us clarify your scenario:

How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly  

In addition, which type of account are you working on? Did this account from the GOV organization or the National cloud? If that is the case, they may have some security-related settings that can be effect/limited to use on the desktop side.
