Problem with field parameters and Matrix visualization - need a good tip

Hi community,

I am working on a finance dashboard. My customer wants to see several kpis - but he wants to control, which of them he wants to see. For this I use an own local dimension with all my kpi names and a measure with a big switch-statement.

He also wants to see the kpis monthly, or per quarter, or per year or per week. Especially when it comes to weeks, there is no chance (in europe) to use the default drill downs - because the first week could be in the old year.

So I though I could use field parameters and created a "period" field parameter (with year, quarter, month...).

In my matrix I have in the colums:

- "period" field parameter

- kpi dimension

I need to drill down to kpi dimension because otherwise my kpis are not calculated.

Now the problem: When I change the "period" field parameter, the matrix visual drills up to the uppermost dimension (period) and my kpis becomes invisible - the user always has to drill down again.

My only way to solve that is to copy my matrix as often I have different entries in my field parameter (year, quarter,...) and use bookmarks to swich between the visible matrices.

Anyone a better idea? Or: did you understand my problem...?

Thanks

Holger
