Previous month & previous quarter button/slicer

Hello! I would like to create a button or slicer that will filter all data on the page when selected for previous month (last 30 days) or previous quarter, is this possible?

EXAMPLE:

i have a similar problem in my matrix. I need to bring the previous period as a filter, be it month, quarter, etc. So I would have a filter with these options, and I have my date filter that would work together. For example, if I put April 2024 in the date filter and the previous year in the options filter, it would have to get and bring me values from the year 2023. If it was a month, it would be March, and so on. If I didn't select anything in the previous period filter, it brings the normal filtered period in my date filter. If neither of the two are selected, it brings all the periods. I've tried several things here, and nothing works. I've tried creating the columns on my date and using them as a field parameter, but it doesn't change the value. I've tried with a calculation group, but instead of showing, for example, the sectioned period, like April/24, it shows the previous month in the tittle or whatever I selected in the previous period filter.

@Anonymous , refer if this can help

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Slicer-MTD-QTD-YTD-to-filter-dates-using-the-slicer/td-p/500115

Formula you can try

MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD('Date'[Date]))
last MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH)))
last MTD (complete) Sales =  CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH))))
last year MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH)))
last year MTD (complete) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH))))
Month behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Month))
last QTR same Month (complete) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFMONTH(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Qtr))))
MTD (Year End) Sales =  CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFYEAR('Date'[Date])))
MTD (Last Year End) Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(ENDOFYEAR(dateadd('Date'[Date],-12,MONTH),"8/31")))
Year behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year))

M1  = CALCULATE(DIVIDE([Total W],[G]),FILTER('S','S'[Total W]<>BLANK()))
MTD  = CALCULATE(M1,DATESMTD('Date'[Date]))

QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(('Date'[Date])))

Last QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,QUARTER)))

Last complete QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD( ENDOFQUARTER(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,QUARTER))))
Last to last QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-2,QUARTER)))
Next QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],1,QUARTER)))
Last year same QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year)))
Last year same QTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESQTD(ENDOFQUARTER(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year))))
trailing QTR = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,QUARTER))
trailing  4 QTR = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-4,QUARTER))
CALCULATE([Total Value], PREVIOUSQUARTER('Calendar'[Date]))

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :

@amitchandak @parry2k thanks for the information and response! The options you provided seem a bit more complex than I require and I only need to filter data for previous month/quarter with a simple button or selection like slicer, is there another way?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Does that make sense? If so kindly mark my answer as a solution to close the case. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you want a simple method, you could use the relative date in slicer.

1-1.PNG
Or you could create two extra tables (previous month & previous quarter), then use bookmark to switch them.
