Hi Team,
I have installed on-premise PowerBI Data Gateway on my IaaS Azure subscription along with my other applicaiotns liek SAP HANA and connectiivty is working between on-premise data gateway & HANA.
I am able to see the Data Source and link it using on-premise Data Gateway from Power BI Web.
However my question is how can I use my same on-premise data gateway using PowerBI Desktop? Inside PowerBI Desktop, do we have to add it separately? If any one of you can provide any kind fo documentaiotn please.
Thanks,
Mofizur
Hi @Anonymous ,
on-premise data gateway is all about server , I do not see the need /option with Desktop

Hi @ribisht17 ,
Thank you!
How will the end users get the data from my HANA system using PowerBI Desktop as I am now allowed to expose my HANA Database to the end user's network directly.
Thanks,
Mofizur
Hi @ribisht17 ,
I think I got teh answer now - PowerBI Desktop communicates directly with the data sources and it never uses a gateway.
I had posted another quesiton on the similar topic
Solved: Re: Does PowerBI Desktop uses On Premise Data Gate... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Thanks so very much!
Thanks,
Mofizur
Glad to know that,

Ritesh
