PowerBI Desktop not opening: Something went wrong - AS Process PID=10308 has exited with ExitCode=0
- 1 year ago
Hi User-H ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community and sharing the detailed info.
You've already tried quite a few helpful steps.
In addition to what you've done, here are a few more things that have resolved this issue for other users:
1. Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from this official Microsoft link.
2. Check if any firewall or endpoint protection is blocking local ports or msmdsrv.exe, which is Power BI's internal Analysis Services engine. If you're in a managed IT environment, some security policies might silently prevent it from running.
3. Try installing an older version of Power BI Desktop from the official version archive. In some cases, recent builds may have conflicts that earlier versions don't.
4. Ensure that Power BI Desktop was installed on the same drive where Windows is installed. So if you had it installed on a different drive, try installing it on the system drive instead.
