Power Query files sent to me - can't see the query detail

Hi all:

I have assigned a quiz to my class using PowerQuery.  I have received all of my students' .pbix files in response to the quiz.  When I open the files, I cannot seem to see the queries and steps my students used to arrive at the final document.  Is there something that I need to do?  The data sources are fine, since I have pointed the data source information to the files that live on my computer.

Thank you.

Hi, @AJMorris

You can see the students’ steps to the final document through the “applied steps” on the right side of the Power Query Editor, like this:

You can click on these steps to see what the data looks like when doing that step, you can also go to the “Advanced editor” to see the information contained in each step more clearly, like this:

If you still have a problem, please reply to me so that we can help you in advance.

Thanks very much!

Hi @AJMorris

So when you open the PBIX files, then click on Transform data, there are no query steps visible?

What do you see if you click on the data icon on the left side of the PBI window?  There should be some data in a table.
