Power Pivot without load Tables or Data Model

Hello all.

Is there any advanced user available here to confirm IF it is possible to work with PowerPivot WITHOUT the obligation to load data into Tables or Data Model?

What's the propose in this question?: To save even more space because as you might know when you just choose "Only Create Connexion" file size reduces a lot.

At least if it is possible to have all Queries in one file, then just use "Only Create Connexion" and finally load all into PowerPivot?

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards,

Hi @bajimmy1983,

Power Pivot is an Excel add-in you can use to perform powerful data analysis and create sophisticated data models. It's impossible to use PowerPivot without add the data to Power Pivot model. Within Excel, Data Models are used transparently, providing tabular data used in PivotTables, PivotCharts, and Power View reports.

As I tested, it's impossible. Four your requirement, you can load the data using Direct Model in Power BI. Lets you build visualizations over very large datasets, where it otherwise would be unfeasible to first import all of the data. More details, please review this article.

@vhuizhn-msft, good morning.

Thanks for the link. In my case I can't connect to any data source using Direct Query approach. 😞

So, I will continue with normal approach.

Thanks again and best regards,
