9 years agoPower Pivot, Power View and Power BI ?
Good morning everyone,
I have a question about two extensions in Excel which look like Power BI. Can you explain me why Power BI is better than Power View and Power Pivot please ? I don't use these applications but I don't know what is the difference between them.
Thank you for your advice.

Hi,
I guess you already know the most story about them from the official documents. Let’s talk about this from daily use.
- Professionalism. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet star. In most cases, Excel is a container of data. Power View and Power Pivot give more power of data analyzing to Excel, which already has many analysis functions. Power BI is born to do data analysis. Obviously, Power BI is more powerful.
- Capability. 1 million rows is almost the limit of Excel while it’s a little cake for Power BI.
- We can get data from many data sources directly with Power BI, we can publish the report to Power BI Service so that collaboration is much easier.
At last, Power View and Power Pivot just extend Excel while Power BI is a new product. Hope this would be a little help. You still can reference the official documents here:
Best Regards!
