Hi!
I need to create an Excel "template" where that Excel has several tables related through a data model with Power Pivot. When I make a copy of that file, the pivot tables remain linked to the original model and bring in that data, not the data from the copy.
Could you guide me on how I can solve this? Thank you.
Hi @afjara04 ,
Please try below steps:
1. Ensure Data Model is Included in the Copy: When you make a copy of your Excel file, ensure that the entire workbook, including the data model, is being copied. This can typically be achieved by simply using the 'Save As' function in Excel to create a copy of the workbook. However, it's important to verify that the data model is indeed included in the copy.
2. Refresh Pivot Tables After Copying: After copying the file, you may need to refresh the pivot tables in the copied file. This can help to re-establish the connection between the pivot tables and the data model within the new copy of the file. To refresh a pivot table, you can right-click on the pivot table and select 'Refresh'.
3. Recreate Pivot Tables in the Copied File: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to recreate the pivot tables in the copied file. This will ensure that the new pivot tables are explicitly linked to the data model within the copied file. While this approach requires more effort, it can be a reliable way to ensure that the pivot tables reference the correct data model.
