Hello - this is an extremely frustrating issue.
I'm using Power Bi Desktop version 2.114 Feb2023 on a Windows 11 64-bit laptop; I also own Microsoft 365 Office (home version.) I'm not connected to any corporate network or license; it's just me on my laptop with my own Microsoft account.
Simply put, I have no issues creating map visuals from scratch. However, when I save the .pbix file, then re-open it, I get the error message above. Of course I have re-booted and re-installed several times; of course my security settings are correct (otherwise, I couldn't do map visuals at all.)
A few months ago, I saw a post in this community about this and a Microsoft rep responded saying "It's a known issue and will be fixed by the end of the year (2022)." Well, it's sorta past the end of the year and this is still happening.
As wonderful a tool Power BI is, this makes it look bad. Creating dashboards goes great but what good is it if you have map visuals that won't re-open after the dashboard is saved?
Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.
- Al
It appears there are many others experiencing the same issue.
Given that map visuals are a highly desirable feature of Power BI, one would think that Microsoft would give it the attention it deserves. Sadly, it seems not to be case.
