Power BI update duplicated
Hi all,
Please be advised that the most recently available update to PBI desktop is a duplicate of the previous version? Current/previous screenshots below for comparison (I've also attempted to update using this version and as expected it asks if I'd like to repair or uninstall the current installation since it's a duplicate).

- I strongly suggest reporting this duplication issue to Microsoft Support directly, referencing the duplicated Version 2.140.1577.0 and the publication dates (3/14/2025 and 3/19/2025). I’ve checked for more recent updates, and the latest available version as of April 2025 (per the Power BI Blog) does not list a version number beyond 2.140.1577.0

Thank you.Hi D_M_2 - If you've already installed the "new" update and it's prompting for a repair or uninstall, then it's likely not a genuine new version.

Thanks for your response. Please however understand PBI updates are not limited to those mentioned on the blogposts (or even the change log, since it lags etc.)
As a reference, below is a short list of some of the updates released for PBI desktop this year, in order of release schedule:
Version: 2.139.1576.0 64-bit (January 2025 RELEASE)
Version: 2.139.1678.0 64-bit (January 2025)
Version: 2.139.1733.0 64-bit (January 2025)
Version: 2.139.2054.0 64-bit (January 2025)
Version: 2.140.1078.0 64-bit (February 2025 RELEASE)
Version: 2.140.1205.0 64-bit (February 2025)
Version: 2.140.1476.0 64-bit (February 2025)
Version: 2.140.1577.0 64-bit (February 2025)The title you see for each is the 'actual' version number/date spec as given in the 'About' section of PBI desktop. With each update (not limited to the main 'release' updates, which are notified on the PBI blog), the version number should always change. So when the update 'post date' changes (the date given on the right in my screenshots), the version number should also change. If it doesn't, that means an update has been duplicated incorrectly (it's happened at least once before, and Microsoft acknowledges as such).
Also, note that the penultimate update isn't included yet on the Change log. Your comment isn't wrong as such, just that it's exactly the point I was raising: the new published update 'should' be a new version, but isn't, instead being an incorrect repeat of the previous one.

Thanks for your response. As the download link is constantly updated, this error is now redundant, but please be advised the PBI blog reference is really just a 'snapshot' of the latest version, and should not be considered definitive. For example: at the time of writing, the official May 'release' is yet to happen, so according to the PBI blog the latest 'April' version is still as shown in the following screenshot:
However, if you navigate to the download link, a newer, more recent version is available:
Your point is well taken though regarding escalation in future, so I'll take a different route when reporting, if I notice a similar anomaly going forward. Thanks for your help!
